By accessing or using Chameo (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Chameo provides AI-powered subtitle enrichment for language learners, including translation, vocabulary explanations, audio extraction, and a shared subtitle library. The Service is available as a web application at chameo.online and as a browser extension.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Plans & Payments

Free plan users receive a limited number of subtitle enrichments and extractions per day.
Pro plan subscribers receive unlimited access and are billed monthly via PayPal.
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days of a charge.
We reserve the right to change plan prices with 30 days' notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Upload content that infringes third-party copyright or is otherwise illegal.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API.
Upload malicious files, NSFW content, or content depicting minors inappropriately.
Resell or redistribute Service output without permission.

6. Shared Library & Uploaded Content

When you upload subtitle files to the Chameo shared library, you grant Chameo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content within the Service. You represent that you have the right to upload the content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights. Chameo is not responsible for user-uploaded content but reserves the right to remove content that violates these terms.

Copyright notice: Subtitle content may be derived from copyrighted works. Users are responsible for ensuring their uploads comply with applicable copyright law in their jurisdiction. Chameo assumes no liability for copyright infringement by users.

7. Intellectual Property

The Chameo brand, logo, UI, and original code are the intellectual property of Chameo. You may not copy or reproduce them without written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that AI-generated translations or explanations are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chameo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Chameo operates. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.
